TR4/4A First shop purchase

While we decide which direction to go in, build or buy, I made my first purchase dedicated to the new shop. I took my wife and her sister to an estate sale yesterday and stumbled upon a 10' x 30" x3" hard maple work table made by a company names 'Boos'. It's in good shape and included a mounted vise as well as a steel leg base along with a 4 drawer under cabinet. It took 4 people to load it and it was cheap! I love the maple butcher block construction and it should be very durable.

Wow! John Boos makes upscale kitchen work tables, somebody paid serious money for that. We have one and use it as a kitchen island and food prep table. Maple work surface is nice, but I added a piece of sheet steel to my garage work bench and really like it.

I didn't take a picture before putting it in the warehouse since I wasn't thinking in LBC terms. Imagine a section of bowling alley 10' long sitting on a steel leg base with 4 drawers on the right side under the vise. I'll do something regarding the base and add shelves, but haven't decided what. I'm on the lookout for a SS work table to use for a clean engine assembly area and will make it the same height. I also want to find a heavy duty SS cart like the use at the machine shop.

Someone posted a link on another forum and they want $2700+ for a new one! I had no idea workbench tops were that costly, but I think I got one that will withstand the pounding that I do.
