MGB First pics of 'new' winter MGB

We took poession of the new MGB thats suppose to be a new winter daily....I am still amazed that I found a car this good and rust free, in Canada, for the right price, without even really looking.
Anyway, heres a few pics from my phone(so i apologise for the quality) these were taken yesterday before it's clean up, the four of us spend all day today cleaning and fixing things so it now looks waaay better. But we didn't get time for more pics. It really is a nice B, rockers are perfect! original paint too! plus its got a manual choke sidedraft weber and electronic ignition for those 20 below mornings.


So after todays progress heres whats left before it should safety:

-reserve light bulb
-Hazard switch
-Windsheild Washers
-Blower motor(I have a spare, just gotta swap them....hopefully)

I am hoping to get it on the road before the end of the month, so the MGA can go to bed.

Looks good, only in Canada you say!

That should do the trick for a few winters, not just one.

I had downgraded to 'r5mgs' for awhile(since selling the 80 MGB LE) but now the count is back up.

I'm having a ball with my white '69 MGB. The top's been down for the last two weeks.
I have a 200 mile run (a work trip) planned for it tommorrow.
But it has summer tires and I live on a hill that can get pretty icy in the winter. I will not drive it much after the snow comes.
The Miata (with Blizzaks) will be better for that.
 
Thanks, it definitely should be a fun car....The MGA has been alotta fun all summer, but the B's modern amenities should help out a little...The tires on it are new all seasons, so i am hoping they'll be ok....If not I'll look into getting some snows. I also know a guy locally who has some factory hardtops out in a feild so I am gunna see if I can get my hands on one of those. I also need some new(aka used, but nice)seats for it.
I only really need 2 winters out of it, after that it'll be retirement time so no more commute, no more living near the city. Depending on how it's held up by then maybe I'll do something different with it given that we've already got two nice original B's.
I guess I never mentioned it has only been in Canada for one year, prior to that it was in North Carolina, and I suspect it spent some time in Florida(I found the title to an 87 Honda registered to Miami Fla in the side pocket).
 
Good luck in the winter. The tires wont help as much as you think in these things. The car sits so low with no weight, it will be pushed around like it was nothing. Good luck, I guess I am in the minority in wanting to drive a MG in the snow and ice no matter what the shape of the car is.

I drove my MGB in the winter for a short time...in snow...I had no difficulties. I was runnin 165SR14's at the time...cut through the snow with no problems. The RB ride height probably helped as well.

I just hate to see a solid body get attacked by the salt and elements.....couldn't you sacrifice a "more holy" example?!

I know MGB's are no 4x4's. But for the better part of my first 20 driving years I drove only LBC's all year. First my 58 A, then a beater 73 B, then a newish(at the time) 78 B, followed by 2 spitfires, and an XKE before I finally gave it up and bought my first brand new car(which we still have, an 84 camaro). My wifes comes from northern ontario, so every christmas eve we'd load up whatever LBC happened to be so unlucky and drive 6 hours north often in very poor conditions and unpaved roads..Never had a problem...crazy days.

I am however starting to feel bad about driving this one in the winter....the body is almost too perfect, but it runs really strong and I doubt we'll be able to find an alternative before the snow flies....I will have it professionally 'rust cured'(REALLY good oil spray everywhere....apparently it's not just oil anymore, somekind of a new formula that has proved to work really well on my other cars). After many years of winter driving we've gotten pretty good at battling rust, so it should hold up pretty good.
