Here's a first peek at the new VTO Retro 4, this is the 13x5.5 for the Spridgets. We should have them by the end of june, and be ready for first deliveries by July 1st.

WoWZa! These are the best looking wheels I've seen since Revolutions quit being available. If they're the standard back set and will work on a Square Body, I'm very interested. I'm running 175/70s on 4" stock rims now. These would be just the ticket. Keep us posted
 
Guys, they are 4" backspacing, the same offset we've used for Spridgets for years with the Superlite product, and we sold hundreds of those to the Spridget crowd, add to that the VTO wheel are a bit slimmer on the inside rim so, it should be even a better fit than the Superlites were. On this backspacing we recommend 175 tires for SWA cars and 185s for RWA cars.

Bill funny you should mention Revolution, being a long time SCCA production car racer, I had more than few sets of Revolutions over the years, and that is what insprired the black center wheels, hopefully they sell good, since this was my idea :smile: This design wheel is hugely popular with LBC crowd, as well as the classic Datsun crowd, so making a new modern version of it just made sense.

WOW! Those look great now if I could just figure out which I like better the silver or black. I keep scrolling up and down trying to see it in my mind.
 
I just had a thought. Will these work with the stock 3/8" wheels studs, and will you have the lug nuts too?

Yes, these wheels use the modern industry standard of 60 degree tapered steel lug inserts, the wheels are lug ecentric, they can be used with 3/8" or 7/16" studs and lugs without any mods to the wheels.

If you drive the car alot think about this

The black will be a lot harder to keep new looking, the back side of wheel will really get looking dingy fast(sorry couldn't resist the tonuge twister).

So when you wash the wheel you will be on your knees trying to clean behind spokes

The metal color will not need to be cleaned behind spokes.

Will these wheels have clear coat?

They are base coat clear coat painted aluminum wheels, pretty much then industry standard. I get asked this alot by wheel cutomers, so I fiquired I would answer it before it gets ask here. Wheel manufactuers by DOT requirements do not use powder coating, because powder coating can hide cracks, so it is illegal for a wheel manufactuer to use powder coating on wheels.

As for the black wheel being hard to keep clean, I have not experienced that, I have black VTO Classic 8s on my MGB, and love them. Most all wheel color will show brake dust, cleaning new clear coated wheels is easy enough, normally just water, mild soap, and soft towell or one of those soft wheel brushes, I got one the other day, cone shaped gets in the nooks and crannies easy.

I like the black on lighter paint cars, and the silver on the darker paint cars, that way you have constrast. Although I thing the black Retro 4s will look on dark paint cars. I'm going for the black ones on the race car.

Some questions for you. Craigslist I'm going to look at these next week. He is unsure of the spacing as he received them with some other stuff that he bought and had them measured by a kid at the local tire shop (so he is guessing and wants future buyer to determine if they will work for them). I have the hubs off my B/E (even my TR3) and will use them to determine the stud width. What would be the max the width that would work for a B/E with an up rated suspension (Rear panhard bar/ front sway bar and maybe a tube shock conversion) what kind of off set? How should I measure the rims (ID/OD...??) I'm a tire/wheel rookie and I like the look. If these do't work out I definitely will be considering your new
 
Hmmmmmm, I don't know, a 6" is pushing it, if it a square arch Midget no way, if a Bugeye or RWA Midget, then the offset would need to be atleast 4"-4.25" backspacing, maybe a tad more. Honestly I think I would pass on 6" wheels. Those wheel probably came from a Spridget race car with flares or a Datsun 510.

To measure the backspacing all they need to do is lay a ruler across the backside of the wheels and with tape measure, measure down to the backside of center of the wheel, that is your backspacing.
 
No matter what buy them and if you can't use them put 'em on ebay.
