saw that - impressive! (I guess)

Truly gorgeous, I'm not sure I'd pay $1,000,000 for it but it's still gorgeous.

Always wanted one of these but never could afford it - more so now. My dad had a 1959 Lancia Appia coupe, blue and silver. I loved to drive that car. It had a little V4 engine with only 2 main bearings. He blew the engine trying to get up his icy driveway. My brother towed the car down to New Jersey using a homemade towbar; the car apparently died there and we never saw it again. One just like it turned up in Hemmings a few years ago on Long Island. I called the guy but he got very vague and I never did find out if that was my dad's car.

Auction closed at one mil with only the one bid over 30k and, of course, reserve was not met. I don't see that the auction served any purpose except to let the collectors know the car might be for sale. It does not seem reasonable, at least to me, that a seller could do better on BAT, in that category of car, than with Mecum, Barrett Jackson or the like, in spite of their high premiums.
