Wedge First issue with my TR8

My fuel injected TR8 has run beatifully since I bought it. I've put about 1000 miles on it.

The other day I noticed that the car was surging at idle and when not on the gas. I can hear it while driving (as long as I'm not accelerating) and I can also feel it while driving. Seems to be less of a factor under load.

Without sending me on a wild goose chase, does this ring a clear bell with anyone. Remember it a fuel injected TR8. Oh... and it has electronic igntion/no points.

Thanks!

Sorry you're having issues, Larry. I have absolutely NO knowledge of these thingies. But intuition says fuel or sensor issues. Maybe some sensor is telling the computer it's short of <whatever>, and opening up the throttle...

I'm sure someone will be "here" shortly with some answers.

Larry - for what it is worth the Rover 3500 (which has a nearly identical set up) also has a variable idle. Not surging as much as fluctuation of a 150+/- RPM.

Thanks Tom, but this isn't normal and it just developed. I talked with a mechanic today who suggested I look for intake vaculm leaks. He thought it might be an old gasket that just gave way.

Update: I poked around a little. Did a few things that really shouldn't and probably didn't make a difference and the TR8 ran nicely today (covered about 70 miles). We'll see what tomorrow brings. Nothing like a LBC /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/winner1.gif
