First car show of the year...

Spring is slowly arriving, Sunday was the first car show of the year, very busy but not much British stuff, mostly American metal here in hinterland... Wish we had more interesting European and British stuff here... :rapture:

Meantime, a couple of highlights, there was a 1956 Porsche 356 at the show, new to the scene, apparently stored locally for 25 years before being sold to present owner, an early example of a 356 is quite rare here...

A pair of Herbie's, father and son owners...

1947 Willys Jeep fire truck! An original conversion for a small town fire department...

And the rat rod invasion of course... :p

And finally something a little different, a 1970 Toyota Corolla, I think... :glee:

Great pics. A Citation?! Time marches on I guess. I do like the Corolla though, very cartoonish!

Fantastic show! And thanks for the pictures. There were some real surprises there! (nice MGA and that 356 Porsche is sublime!)

I'm going to our local ~Britfest~ British car club show in two days. It's only 3 miles from my house so I'll try to bring four of my cars (if I can round up some friends to drive them over).

Some neat stuff there. The Jeep pickup in the background of the "fire truck" pic is a rare sight around here. I have argued with people that say Jeep never made a flat-nose truck.
Left Herbie is far more accurate.....:eagerness:

The Jeep firetruck photo brought back memories. The family spent summers in a small cottage community - Mt. Gretna, PA. Mt Gretna's streets are very narrow...some are more like paved paths. The fire company used a Jeep outfitted just about the same as the one at your show. It was ideal for getting around the tightly packed cottages on these narrow streets. In the late 50's it's replacement was a Jeep Forward Control (that's the "cab over" Jeep it's parked next to). The pump again was mounted in front and powered by the PTO. Neat.

Thanks for the other Jeep fire truck photo, looks very similar... The one here was used in a small prairie town in Saskatchewan, and apparently built somewhere in Ontario... Likely purchased for off road use as there would be lots of that on the prairies, and small towns that aren't very crowded... :highly_amused:

I just ran into a friend at the local flea market - who just happens to be a volunteer at the LeMay Museum in Tacoma... He said there is a similar Jeep fire truck in their collection, but they also have a trailer for it as well...

What is he doing in Calgary you may ask? His girlfriend lives here so he spends every other month here...
