Firewall Grommets for BE

I am looking for the sizes of grommets needed for the firewall on a 59 BE. I cant figure it out from the Moss or VB catalogs.

Mike:

Unfortunately neither Moss nor VB have a single package providing all the grommets at once. I went through the same thing you are now experiencing. I ordered all the Bug Eye gromments from the Moss catalogue, only to find there were many missing. I then looked at the fire wall gromments for the later Sprite/Midget and found everything else that i needed. It's a small hassle, but I was able to replace all my gromments for very little cost.

From what I've been hearing lately, the rubber in the grommets available from both VB and Moss hardens VERY quickly (like within a month!!!) and then falls out or breaks. Frank C. did the Holy Sprite with new grommets from the usual suspects and that was his report. We've been waiting for someone who needs them to order from MacGregor (https://www.macgregorukcarparts.com/) and report back, BUT I've ordered other rubber products (just not the plugs!) and been more than satisfied.

I use the Moss grommets with no problems....I buy 5 or 6 of each size when I start a project & toss the left-overs....if you leave them sitting on a shelf in an unconditioned garage, they will harden....

Durn it Tony you are supose to send them to me.

Tony, What's the difference between sitting on a shelf in an unconditioned garage and conditions under the bonnet? Wouldn't they harden once installed?

Yea, but over the years they get stiff and impossible to install. But once installed it makes no difference.

I've a bag full of various ones I'm bringing to you, Jack.

And Jack answered the other question....if they get hard on the shelf, they break when you're installing them; if they get hard in the firewall, nothing happens.....that's why I never reuse a grommet & order them as I need them.

Ohhh, we can trade stuff.

Just ordered a bunch of rubber plugs from Moss over the weekend. Wished I would ahve read this before I ordered.

I ended up ordering some later sprite stuff to get the plugs I thought I needed. The Moss diagram isn't very clear.
