Reminds me of the time my oldest son decided to install a high-powered amp himself in his Datsun 280Z. Same thing happened - fried the entire main wire harness and I had to spend the night in the Base Exchange parking lot replacing the entire harness. What fun!

Glad you're ok!

it looks like it was just the old fiber insulation that was on fire. so once I fix what caused the spark. i just have to deal with the water damage.

ok i got the car running again 3 issues.
1. the only gauge to go back inthe car was the Tach. and im now having idle issues. coincidence or correlation?
2. there are 4 wires going down from the main harness in to the transmission tunnel, dry and brittle, and made snapping feelings as I moved them away from the exhaust. should i worry while I wait for new ones to arrive? 2.b where do they go transmission?
3. low priority : despite following the Hanes manual on how to wire the "new" 4 position light switch. I got smoke. should i crack it open and try to fix it.
