TCM (Turner Classic Movies) is currently running Le mans, with Steve McQueen, followed here shortly by Grand Prix with James Garner (personal favorite) then The Racers, with Kirk Douglas (not seen on TV all that often). I'll make the popcorn!
 
Oh man, I wish I had seen this before Le mans came on. I'm DVRing Gran Prix, The Racers, The Young Racers, and Speed for later viewing enjoyment.
 
I didn't see it before LeMans came on, not sure what is driving the decision to do a racing theme tonight.
 
Mitsy was channel checking just before LeMans started, we watched it and Grand Prix. I'd liked for them to have shown "A Man and a Woman" instead of "The Racers" though.
 
I really like racing, all types! But the movie Le Mans is a flop in the entertainment industry as it has no story, a few comments here and there, but nothing to hold your interest, unless all one wants to do is listen to screaming engines and watch an accident scene once in a while, other than that, it's a very dry movie. Steve had too much to say in the making of this film. All he wanted to do was drive, hold most of the shots and be the star. Don't get me wrong, I like McQueens acting, but he made this movie for himself, not the general public. JMHO. PJ

It is this particular movie Tom, not done well enough to hold ones interest for the length of the film, no plot! For me, watching a race at the track is very different from watching one on TV. On TV, I want it presented with a story, this doesn't have it! :sleeping:

Granted it isn't, but LeMans is much closer to being a documentary of the 24 hour race than a film with a race as a backdrop. Still like it but I don't watch it for the same reasons I'd watch Bullitt or Papillon or any other of McQueens films.
