TR6 Finding a 69 tr6

I have a 69 tr6 motor CC 25769HE and was wondering if there was a way to find out what happened to the car...or better yet if it was possible to buy

One way would be to request the heritage certificate using the engine number:

Hmm, looks like they won't do the certificate that way anymore, but perhaps this will work (and is cheaper, anyway):

Then you need to find out if the car is still registered. Which may be a bit of a trick. I'd try something like CarFax first, but on cars this old I don't know if that would work.

Chances are if you have the engine, the rest of the car is long gone, though.
