Finding 50A Fuse for Horn Locally?

My horn stopped working so I checked the fuse and that was it. I really don't want to order the fuse from Moss because I'm impatient and don't want pay for shipping for something so small/cheap. However, I've called all the automotive stores around here (Checker, Autozone, Pepboys, Napa, BAP) and the largest any of them carry is a 30 amp. Does anyone know local places that carry this fuse or will I have to order from Moss?

Thanks!

British fuses and US fuses are rated differently so the 50 amp British is equivilent to 25 amp US (approximately). Here's a conversion chart ..

BCF wiki - fuse info

Ahhhh. So I could purchase a 25amp fuse and it would work? That saves me some searching! Thanks!

Yep Brandon, but you will have agreater margin in this inductive circuit if you use a 25 Amp "Slow Blow" fuse. Easily located too.---Fwiw--Keoke

Give me your address and I will mail you one.

I bought a 25amp fuse from an auto parts store and it worked great. I haven't heard my horn in months!!

BigHealey - If you have an extra 50amp british fuse, that would be great! I've sent you a PM.

Don't you know that there are some common alternatives/replacements for Lucas fuses? You can see the general guide here:

https://www.mez.co.uk/lucas.html

That's the European edition. The American one includes the ever-popular .22 LR audible fuse..... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

I found a 22 long case round in a fuse holder once. THAT would have been audible !!

Many ole gum wrappers have saved the day with regard
to blown fuses...just need to remember to swap them back
out or wisps of brittish toxins may infiltrate my nasal passages!!!

Perhaps a sabatogue BTW the fuse is in the mail Brandon

When you get it be sure and put in the spare "Empty" fuse hole. ---Keoke- /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif
