Long ago in my late teens I saw a weird looking car sitting outside a barn in central California, I turned off the road and found the owner. Although the car had different colored body parts and no brakes, he let me drive it (yes it drove) down the frontage road to see what I thought...instant love for a Spitfire. I forgot about the car after military, college, marriage etc. but occasionally drooled over auction and eBay offerings. It just never seemed to be the right time. Enter 2022 in western New York. A guy pulled up to me at a traffic light in a white (favorite color) 1980 spitfire 1500. I jokingly shouted to him "awesome car, want to sell it?" The car was mine the next day. The weather in New York is awful so I drive it when I can and happily tinker with it the rest of the time. I don't need or want it perfect, I want to drive it, dings and scratches no worries for now. I look forward to reading posts from owners who know about these cars as I am just getting started. To date I have done simple things, plugs, new fuel pump, water pump, a couple of hoses, timing and mixture adjustment etc. I have a new leaf spring and shocks on the way. Thanks for letting me in. Cheers
