20 minutes to go, still just the one bidder.
About 80 watchers, so there's interest but I think maybe just people wanting to see where the market is for it.
20 minutes will tell the tale.

Looks like nobody else jumped in. Heck, maybe some of the lookers were us. I would imagine that the buyer was local (?) given the cost of shipping relative to the car's value?

Yes, not too far from here actually.
There were some really interested people looking at the car, taking test drives.
Every one of them came back with a big silly grin on their faces.
Apparently good sense won out for them, and they are probably better for it.
These little cars will definitely take over a significant part of your life.

If you drive them at 60 on the freeway then they will get about 40- if you hot-foot them around town then they get around 20mpg

Whoa.. I just read your auction. These cars get 40mpg?

They "can" do it.
Take a good running 948 with a properly tuned set of HS2's and drive sanely and that's what you get - at least.

Not much- my 1275 with HS2's got around 36 on the trip from Seattle to Wisconsin last summer and gets around 30 around town

Years ago on a cross country trip I got 49 MPG.

I always get mid 20s but I beat on it.

Congrats on the sale!

and it's a good thing too...considering the tank holds about 6 gallons of gas...

The buyer came and picked it up this morning. :frown:

Funny thing broke down before he got it out of town, this car has never given me a hint of trouble.

The guys said it was like it didn't want to leave...

Loose connection at the distributor, a little jiggle and they were on their way.

Congratulations!
It was a good car but now it is off to a good home (I hope!)
-I wonder if Brian will see it drive around his neighborhood?-

Congrats on the completed sale -- tough to have to let them go, but boy it can feel good to have them gone some times.
