I love twin cams /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I dunno whether to be supportive or distainful... Mine's been sittin' BESIDE the Elan for too long. The chassis is my issue. Cracked at the diff "steady rod" mounting, 2/3 across. Plan to do the Thompson "thing" to it, but there's this ~GIANT~ MGB blocking the access to it right at the moment.

Morgan, yer KILLIN' me here! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

This really does put a "bee in me bonnet" to step up th' pace a bit tho.

...and I'm a bit surprised there were no blankets or "shock absorbers" around the edges... but you left the gearbox in-situ, so no outrageous tilt angles were necessary. Well bowled, Sir.

Be sure to line up the clutch plate/pilot bearing VERY carefully before reinstall! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Since I no longer have a place to work on the car (nor the will) I am having a shop that specializes in Elans do the work. They had it out in less than an hour. The transmission came out too, but from the bottom.

Going for 114 cams, big valves, port and polish, balancing, maybe new pistons ( if necessary, currently they are already .030 over). elec fuel pump, HP clutch, gear reduction starter, converting to alternator, replace all seals on engine and trans, and a bespoke shifter mod. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I did the suspension over earlier this year with lower and stiffer springs and adjustable shocks.

So much for the budget this year /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazyeyes.gif

Should be about 150-160hp, will make for a great canyon carver when it's done

PAY ATTENTION!!! Beef up the FRAME> Mine is 150 HP, all the trick stuff you tally and then some. It was AMAZING.... My right foot was the reason the diff cracked the frame.

Koni got my dollahs, and the smaller/stiffer diameter rear springs.

Them TUBE frames from Spyder are ~bespoke~... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

You mean this one? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

Frame is already beefed up around the diff

This shop has been building Elan race cars for 35 years (they currently campaign an S2 and are rebuilding their 26r and maintain a customers 23b among others), and they are friends, so I know I am in good hands

I went with AVO and the smaller diameter stiffer springs. My big issue is what to do about grippier tires for the added power

Not sure what your reference to the Spyder frame is getting at?
By Bespoke on the shifter I meant that it is a hand made custom shifter that they developed for their race cars that won't break (like the OEM shifters) shortens throws and gives more feel.

Where are you located anyway?

BTW Here is a nice Elan video (not mine) for your entertainment https://youtube.com/watch?v=q-L-thsn2cU

Kenny: yeah, that's th' one...

KISS ME where it smells funny!!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

There ain't no ~words~ I'm allowed to use here.

Loved the clip, but that's not the big nuerburgring? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif is it? I thought it looked more country-like and was several miles long.

Oh and Doc... hehehehhehehehehehehehehehe /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

ahhhh... my only experience of it is TV, internet videos, and Gran Turismo on PS2.

Morgan:

I'm on the GPU (Garage Processing Unit) ATM, will view the vid later. Glad of the info that your frame has been beefed up.

26R, huh? No shabby endeavor.

English space-frame manufacturer. $3,500 last time I checked. Sans-shipping. But "Tubular, MAN!"

You got a PM, BTW.

I know what a Spyder frame is, curious as to the inside joke I'm detecting /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Tubular and heavy

Got the PM, responding

'xcellent.

Wow!!! great photo! Almost looks like CG.

Funny lookin' "DOT" onna door! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif
