My J-type total rebuild journey.

Excerpts/pics/process of what transmission rebuild Specialist Phil said:

Transmission is apart and looks pretty good inside, reverse and 1st and 2nd beat up pretty good, input bearing shows wear, layshaft shows wear but not bad, you have a steel bushings which is good and they are all good
When I get the parts out of the cleaner I will know more about the wear in the gears. Cleaned and buffed all the gears and put the trannie together on Sunday, next will be the top and then the overdrive.

Replaced the syncros, layshaft, double bearings in the counter gear, steer bearings, nos reverse gear, nos 1st and 2nd slider, nos 3rd gear counter shaft and a few other thrust washers. Your trannie is whole again
Gotta say the guys who did this before were very good , just a few bolts were Hercules tight.

Everything looks good , shifts nice reverse goes in like a glove. Have to drill the fork for a second bolt then do testing and ck for leaks, let it cure overnite.
Wont' be long sign on my garage door will say GONE DRIVIN'

I couldn't find any tranny pics/vids. You sent your tranny to Julius for a rebuild?
