Ok, a coupe of questions for you all during this holiday season.

1. What is the best, most significant (not necessarily most expensive) gift you have ever received (Christmas or B'day)?

2. What do you think is the best, most significant gift you have ever given to someone else?
 
Ok, I'll start.

Probably the most significant gift I ever received was when my sister used her baby-sitting money to buy me a soapbox racer when I was about 11.

The most significant gift I think I have given, is the one I'm giving my wife for her Birthday this year (mum's the word). She loves to dance. I HATE to dance (hate isn't string enough of a word). My B'day gift to her this year is a ballroom dancing package at Arthur Murry Dance Studio. It is significant because it is for couples and I am going to put myself waaaaay outside my comfort zone to give her something I know she will love.
 
Good for you, Basil. I have thought of doing a similar thing for my SWMBO when finances allow.

Most significant gift was from my wife before we were married. It's a Parker fountain pen, I use it occasionally (I have several nice fountain pens).

Most significant gift that I have given? Right now my mind is a blank but I'm sure something will manifest itself.....

Close to the same here. We pulled over on the side of I10 b/w N.O east and the twin span Christams eve and decided we would get married.

"What month should we get married next year?"
Still owe her a proposal and she hasn't let me forget.

Although I don't HATE to dance - it's not on my top 10 list - but my wife LOVES it. I also gave her a gift of dance - as a gift for Christmas a couple of years ago: lessons for me. She still talks about how special that was to her! :smile:

Ever see a guy gettin' into a USAF flight suit? They call it a "chicken dance"... that's me. Never in public, mebbe once a decade in private.
 
In 1954 my father passed away in Sept.
My mother had no income and told us there would be no Christmas that year.
Two local groups, (Salvation Army and Lions club), brought us gifts.
I received a small yellow truck. Ive never forgotten that truck.

The best gift I ever gave was a diamond to Annie.
It gained me my best friend!

Kelly loves to watch DWTS but hates to dance. We almost didn't dance at our wedding. It was really late and most everyone had left. Kelly's friend was smashed and came up and demanded a dance from me. Kelly and I hadn't had the first dance yet. I made it blantantly clear I wasn't dacning with another woman till I danced with my wife. She kept insisting and trying to drang me out on the floor. Kelly and I danced. Then I had to dance with her drunk friend. I can assure you Doc, I would have much rathered watch you get in a flight suit than dance with that drunk chic!
