TR2/3/3A Fender skirts TR3

TRF used to sell fender spats - P/N 552083 including the fixing hardware, so it might be worth asking if they can still get them made to order.

I've seen a set of brand new original Stanpart spats and they were supplied in red primer to self paint to your car's colour. They were first made to streamline the factory SP Speed model TR2's, then continued as an accessory.

The factory only made the flat type spat for use with steel wheels. I think the bulging set fitted to TS2 in the UK were hand made for spoked wheels to clear the knock-ons, although the car remains on steels wheels.

Hi Dan - I noticed Ken's cars skirts, where they turn downwards, went to the very bottom of the front of the fender. Is this because your stone guard in the picture is not fitted tight and pushed up?

Dan, that's some seriously nice sheet metal work.

Now I know why you're "tinman".

Very nice work.

The skirts pictured also seem to have a rounded lower rear edge, which doesn't seem as obvious on other skirts, including Dan's.

Take a look at TS1LO returns home to Britain; it all makes me wonder if all skirts were hand-formed, or if -- at best -- just a rough buck was made over which skirts were formed? Will we ever know?

What did "we" do before there was the internet and AMAZING resources like BCF? Dan - "Tinman" - made a set of spats for my brother's TR3 and he let me know they will be delivered to his house Dec 1! How awesome is that?!!

My brother doesn't know they're coming so it's a total surprise. I did tell his wife a package is coming and he's not to open it until Dec. 25. But I DIDN'T tell her what's inside  Now, any of you who know my brother.....SSSHHHHHHH!! LOL

Dan, many, many thanks to you! And Basil, many, many thanks to you for establishing this resource that has allowed this community to connect!

Pictures will hopefully follow after the holidays so you all can share in the craftsman ship of the tinman!

Man those look great, really nice work producing a rare part.
Ever think of modifying them to work with wires? I saw a flat set modified by a small cut out that looked pretty neat.

P.M. me

I was playing around and trying to imagine what my car might look like with spats. It's a little crude I did it with Microsoft paint but I think it gets the idea across. I Like it. Now it's just a matter of convincing my wife that we really need them for the car!
