Fender seam annoyance...

Odd thing. The very forward part of my left front fender seam began to peel back! Don't know why. I figure there has been a failure of the rib into the seam. It also broke off right under the rubber beehive mount. Odd.

So, I decided I'd try to fully clean the area up and EPOXY it back down. What else could I reasonably do (without turning this into something big)? I used a very high-strength clear epoxy and clamped it back down... and then did a little paint touch-up. I sure hope this holds (otherwise maybe I can rivet it down under the rubber mounting). Ugh.

Great job Mark. I don’t see any signs of the repair.

Thanks Elliot. Hopefully this will hold. My touch-up paint is imperfect, but I got some to wick into the side of the bead too.

Was this car chemically dipped by any chance. Residual stripper in there???? I cleaned up Bugsy's seams on the bonnet yesterday prior to paint and discovered a previously unknown dent that had been pulled out. Lots of work so far to get seams cleaned up and careful buildup of bondo to hide this repair. A few more applications and gentle sanding and I'll be ready to flip the bonnet over and start painting the inside.

Good question, Jim. I don't know. The previous owner did the body work (where I focused on mechanicals). Wish I knew.
