Here's why!

Just got this in an attachment. MAN, do I miss the styling!

nostalgia
memories
feeling old(er)

Wonderful, Mickey. Those were some mighty big chunks of metal back then. They had everything except an example from American Motors, Willy's Overland and Packard.

What I also liked is that the genesis for the Daimler SP "styling" is quite evident.

And as Larry says...feeling old(er)

There's one of these in the bodyshop next to SSsnake right now.

I was having lunch at a bagel place today and when I sat down outside to eat my sandwich I noticed this fantastic mid/late 60s Cadillac 2-door convertible. Dark blue, black aftermarket steel wheels, top down. Just a huge slab of car -- looked twice the size of my Bugeye.

They pulled away as I was finishing up. Too bad I had no camera. This car had *presence*.

Sigh.......that 1953 Studebaker coupe was so ahead of it's time.

A time of optimism.

...a much different time.

:sigh:

Tony...you had to it...my first car (love)...cept mine was the straight 63 Impala (not Super Sport)..2 door, black with red interior with the 289. Bought it for $800 bucks back in 1970. Sold everything I owned for that classic! Funny thing is I'd have to sell everything I own now to afford one as well!!! :cryin:

Don't know anything about them, but I always like to see the land yachts with the outrageous fins at mixed car shows; excellent.

It might be because my first car was a Mini, which would fit in the trunk of one of them.

And they saved the best for last... Still drooling of the "Golden Hawk."

if it doesn't connect, try the kiko auctions home page. This is supposed to be an absolute auction of a single persons collection; pictures are of cars in restored condition.
NFI.

UHOOOOO---=That fella got some cars he should be shamed of his self for hoard-in like that :Gt. I agree with you even a Dart look good upside one em UGLY, Chicken Hawk, Studes. ONTOH look at the front end of the 1958 Hawk!--Keoke-

Actually, if you look closely at that blue 63 Chevy, you will notice that it is a 6 cylinder model. They were rare with the SS trim, but every Chevy Impala with a V-8 had an emblem at the body line on the middle of the front fender behind each front wheel well opening, A simple V with the RWB chevron was a 283, the next step was a 327 that had the same as the 283, but with crossed Chevrolet & B/W racing flags above the V and the 409 was clearly spelled out on top of the flags over the V emblem.

Just another bit of worthless muscle car trivia from an old guy who was once a little boy who drooled over these cars.

Paul...right on...everything on mine looked exactly as the pic
except the SS logo was the circle with an impala and no spinner
SS hubcaps. Still had a drive-in theater to park her at in 70
as well...I love worthless car trivia.

I took my driving test in a white beastie just like that!!...and I had learned to drive in (and had only ever driven before the test!) a VW Beetle

Again, with the coincidences! For Drivers' Ed, the car was a new '65 Galaxie. My dad had a '60 Karmann Ghia at the time, which was the car in which I learned to drive.

Hehe!!! That is a coincidence!! Tough transition, is it not??!! American iron just seemed GARGANTUAN after learning on a VW!
PS, Mickey, Passed through Clarksville yesterday on my way home from MO. I was tempted to stop in and take you up on that cup of coffee you offered, but opted to POR (press on regardless) to get the rental back in one day (did the trip in 18 hrs. with stops only for fuel and comfort!)
