Been working on this project for over 6 years and have done done just about everything to it, mostly myself and help from my son.

Other than the outer paint job after a Jeep plowed into it, I've rebuilt components, made interior from a leather hide and painted the bonnet and engine bay.

I take it to local street shows and structured events, not for trophies or notoriety. I take it to show people a cute car with a smiling face. I let kids sit in it so their parents can capture a memory. I do not treat it as a show car or trailer queen.

This past Sunday at the #pointlookout spring dust off, I won an unexpected trophy.

I've been an on/off member of BCF for a number of years and felt like braggin'/sharing. Enjoy!

It's fun. I ask the parents of their kids want to sit in it.Then after they sit and I shut the door, I walk away saying it's not my car! Always gets a laugh.

As a parent with a kid who is currently obsessed with cars... you are making the kids day! We went to a little car show a few weeks ago and the owner of a nice C4 Vette let him sit in the drivers seat. He was babbling about that for hours :smile:

Great idea, the kids in photos in your car makes great memories and may even get younger folks interested in cool old cars. Maybe let the parents sit in the car too? Then maybe they can see themselves driving an LBC…
That’s how it started when I was 17 because my dad’s work buddy let me sit in, then gave us a dead Hillman Minx convertible that was easy for me to get running… almost 50 years ago!

It works well with teenage couples, too. Have the girlfriend sit in the car while boyfriend takes picture. That way, girlfriend can push him to buy one.

I was actually joking with a friend of mine at the show. We weren't even going to stay for the awards and then when I got to the stage and saw the size of the first place trophies, I joined there's no way that's fitting in my car. So a second place trophy is fine and was a little tight in the seat.

I did this once and the parent and child stayed in the car for a very long time. (In my GT) Kid stole my keys!!!

I did it once - kids were very respectful but unfortunately then walked to the next car and prepared to jump inside. Had to explain they could sit in my car, not every car. :D
 
Some years ago while I was driving my TR6 in a parking lot this kid (who was with mom) yells “cool car”. Of course I pulled into a parking spot and asked the kid if he wanted to sit in my car. When I left he was grinning from ear to ear. Small things do make a difference.

We love letting kids (with their parent's OK) sit n our cars or come in our motorhome. I think the parents are often more wowed than the kids. :D

A 1973 GMC Sequoia. Many know it from the movie Stripes - the EM50 was one.
