Here's the deal on why I'm so excited about this. This D-Type Overdrive Transmission is the first piece to be completed for the "3 month" '65 B project I've been working on, which is now pushing three years.

I've been driving the car for nearly 20 years on a standard gearbox, much of that in daily driving. The day I flick that dash switch will literally be a dream come true, and now I'm this much closer!!!

That's exactly what I thought when I saw it. Pretty shabby. And I sent the thing in so nicely packed. Tight, wrapped well in bubble wrap, then a heavy packing blanket (which I didn't get back) and finally styrofoam panels.

On the bright side, the rebuilder was Quantum Mechanics, so I can rest assured the work was done properly and it has been fully bench tested.

Hey Tony, notice something missing? Got a shift lever for me? It's specific for the early overdrive. Standard bent lever won't work, nor will a later OD lever.

What did that run for the rebuild and shipping? I think they are right up here in CT.
 
They are in Monroe, CT. The complete rebuild was under $1K including parts and labor. I was very lucky that the clutch cone was good and didn't need to be replaced. Shipping was $72 there and $100 back from So Cal.

I was hoping you had it - I've got one on my extra early OD...none I'm willing to give up....hope you also have the electrical & vacuum stuff that goes on the firewall!

I think they charge for packing. Not that you would guess by the look of that ratty box!

Tony, I do have the vacuum switch and relay but I may not put them on. They are not necessary at all and I'm concerned they will not be calibrated to the extra power of the supercharger. On one hand they may protect the OD unit from the additional torque of the engine but on the other hand it may cause the OD to disengage suddenly and unexpectedly while under heavy load. I think it's safer to monitor it myself than to trust the vacuum switch.

I may have my old crooked lever modified to work in this gearbox if I can't find the proper one. I like the look of the bends anyway.
 
I have some early straight levers that could be easily modified...lemme look at my OD lever & one of those straight ones to see what it'd take.

Oh, if you don't want the switch/relay, I'll take them to go with my early OD.

(Note before anyone calls: No, I'm not selling my extra MG OD's - eventually they'll go in cars that will stay in my collection)
 
Thanks Tony, let me know what you find. I'm keeping the vacuum switch and relay for now. If I decide to let them go you will be the first person I'll call.
 
I get home end of month, will see what's the difference in early straight & early OD straight lever (I know there is a difference - just never thought about it)
