Fastest Production car

Yes, I read about this car recently also. Seems they beat the MacLaren F1 by quite a margin. The most impressive thing is that the record setting run was on a track that is a 12km circle, so they were driving with a constant 30 degrees of turn in the steering. They said they are going to make another run on a straight track and see if they can hit the cars designed top speed of 395km/h in a straight line.

Theres an article here about it also with alot of good pictures of the car.

Go Sweden!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Sharp looking car. I guess I would opt for the CCR model. CC8S seems a bit slow at 3.5 second for the 0-100KM mark. 3.2 a lot better!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I remeber reading about this company a couple of years ago. I think its great that they finally got the car up and running, and broke the record.

EVO had an article about Koenigsegg a few months ago. they test drove the cars in Sweden, in the middle of winter. Scared Richard Meaden to death.

For a short while a company called 9ff had the record, having gotten one of their cars over the McLaren record. They modify Porsche 911s, but to such an extent that they qualify as a manufacturer. I recall that they had some problems getting to top speed, and spent a lot of time removing windshield wipers and taping up panel gaps.

I've written a letter challenging them straight up against my 77 midget. they are apparantly too scared to reply.

It might make them more comfortable if you offered to let their driver handle the Midget while you drove theirs. It might take the edge off the threat /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif.

I'd still rather have a McLaren. Very few cars have ever been, or will be in the future, as pure of a driver's car.

Give me a Yugo. I'll take your Midget anyday! :/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif:

Does anyone remember those Vector W-8 Twin Turbos? I seem to remember they claimed an outlandish top speed, but no one ever got it up that fast. Or did they?

I remember the Vector, had a poster of the W-8 on my wall when I was in school. I loved the military aircraft style rolling tape digital dash displays in that car. There was a follow up to the W-8, can't remember the model number right now, but it was very similar looking to the W-8, only a little more rounded and flowing, sort of like how the Lotus Esprit evolved from it's earlier angles and sharp edges to the softer latest iteration. Never saw the demonstrated top speed of the Vector, but I'm sure it was somewhere around 200 since it was an exotic supercar of the day. I remember reading that a few Saudi princes had all bought Vectors to blast around the desert in.
