It's been a crummy week so far. Yesterday we took our cat of 10 years, Grommit, to the vet, and they had to put him down. He had been getting worse with an infection and was in bad shape.
I often said we had mis-named our yellow tiger cat, being that in his prime he weighed in at over 20 pounds, he should have been named Garfield.
He was not otherwise a remarkable cat, but a loved companion nonetheless, and we always enjoyed our guests shocked reactions upon him waddling into the room to greet them.
"Oh my goodness! that's the biggest cat I've ever seen!" to which he'd then come over purring to get some pettin'.
I gave hime a good resting place in the backyard tonight, with a sizable hunk of slate over top of the grave that will see some decorating when the weather gets nicer.
So here's to a happy ten years we had with our family friend Grommit. may we meet again on the other side.
P.S.
We still have his older brother to keep us company.
His name?......
Wallace, of course
