Well I finished the Fan shroud and installed it on Saturday, Looks like it will work well, Amazing, one of the few projects that I made and didnt have to do a lot of fitting up, grindind and rework to get it installed, Fits like a glove, Now if I get the car finished and back together and drive it to see if it works

I do have a front fan shroud, currently its out of the car as the paint job is still going on but soon to finish, as noted by all the sanding dust. I got the bonnet hinges and boot hinges painted this weekend too.

Hondo- nice job.

Now a stupid question. I've reconstructed a 1969 TR6
without ever seeing a real TR6 up close for comparison.
I know many, many parts and components were missing from
my car. Probably lots more I don't know about.

My car had a busted radiator with no shroud in front
or behind. When I replaced the radiator, I fabricated
a shroud for in front. My fan is red with many blades
more than yours. I think my fan might be larger in diameter
than yours as well.

Now the stupid question-
? What is the purpose of the shroud between the radiator
rear side and the fan bladed? My engine NEVER overheats
and I live in the tropics.

No such thing as a stupid question!

The shroud improves the efficiency of the fan. otherwise, allot of the air that the fan circulates just goes from the back of the fan and then circles around to the front of the fan again without stopping by to visit the radiator.
The front shroud is there to make sure that air going through the radiator is cool air from outside the car.

Dale, as far as the differences in fans... The early TR6s had smaller, yellow fans. Later TR6s had larger 13 blade red fans. If your TR6 has the later fan, it was effectively upgraded to a larger fan capable of moving more air than the standard early fan. If your not overheating, the extra shroud around the fan won't do much, and what it helps with would only be noticed at idle. It may increase the efficiency of your cooling system slightly, but it would be a bunch of effort for very little, and in your case unnecessary gain. If you have the shroud forward of the radiator, the amount of air it directs through the radiator at speeds more than 25-30mph is more than the fan can pull through anyway. So over 30mph, the size of the fan and the shroud around the fan don't make much difference.

I think that it would be hard to retro fit the bigger fan like this one is done. It's so big that the material left to surround it would be minimal and hard to form.

Nice job on this one though. I'll bet it solves any issues that Hondo may have.

yes the shroud in back of the radiator is one I made with fiberglass and a form, it is not a standard equipment item, I belive swift6 explains it well, I do have a slight overheating issue during the summer when stopped at a light so I am hoping this will help by pulling more cool air thru the radiator at a stoplight.

There's a red fan on eBay where the guy wants 600+ for it.
