Fan pulley question

I had a good bit of rust on the inner sides of my fan pulley where the belt rubbed. I got all the rust off and it's nice and shiny now, but is it ok to paint the inside of that fan pulley so it won't rust anymore? Or is it probably just going to get rubbed off again?

It'll just get rubbed off again. But it won't hurt anything to put a little paint on it; some of it might stay behind if your new belt doesn't ride quite the same as the old one or whatever.

Thanks, that's what I was thinking but wanted to check with the experts. What's your opinion on a new fan belt. I see that there is a "newer" cogged version of the belt they say is better versus the stock belt, what do you recommend?

As you can read in that thread, I'm very happy with the cogged Gates belt from NAPA.
