Gentlemen:
Over the winter I acquired two 1275 engines. I tore down and cleaned up both, but eventually focused on one to complete first. Tonight we finished adjusting the valves, so I started to do the final assembly. When I started to install the fan I noticed a problem. First the fan had to be tapped onto the water pump pulley. Then I noticed the fan blades were making contact with the cylinder shaped aparatus attached to the timing chain cover.
I then tried the fan on the other 1275 and found the same problem.
I took these engines apart in December/January. I recall one of the fans had broken blades, so I threw it out. It put this other one aside, thinking that installing the fan was a pretty low tech operation, so I didn't give it much thought.
Do I just have the wrong fan? It is a six blade yellow-plastic fan that looks much like the one on my 1100.
Can I simply sway the fan off the 1100? Is it the same?
Let me know your thoughts.
