Fall Colors Rally and a surprise

Today was our club's annual fall colors rally. 37 degrees when we left the house this morning top down. Brian & Chelle took their Midget, Sarah & Rob drove Emma, so we had the entire family, along with 20 or so other cars. A really nice, *invigorating* drive, fair amount of color in the trees. We ended at a winery for some refreshments and lunch.

Here's a few pictures...then I'll tell you the rest.

Got our tables and lunch set up and Chuck had just poured us a glass of wine and Chelle (my dot-in-law) handed me an envelope with a picture her and Brian in their Midget that I'd taken a few weeks ago on a drive we had taken. I'm thinking that they're giving me money toward the hotel room in Memphis a couple weekends ago (I'd torn up their check once)

I opened the envelope and inside is a hand-made card with a picture of a winding road through fall foliage. It said "Sometimes a rally can be full of suprises and unexpected turns..."

I opened the card and on the inside it said "So can life! Congratulations, you're going to be grandparents!" And a picture of an ultrasound.

Looks like Chuck is gonna be a grampa!

I, on the otherhand, HATE 'nana,' 'memaw,' 'mawmaw' and most other derivatives of grandmother. I think Mrs. Demick will work quite nicely.

I when we lived in Troy we used to love taking a fall drive along the east side of the river, up into Alton, IL. Wow, what a drive!

Congrats, Janel....now go buy him the book "The Grandfather Thing"...he'll like it!

Basil, that's still one of my favorite rides. Up through Grafton (which you wouldn't recognize any more) and Elsah (sort of reminds me of a little English village), then the ferry over to the Missouri side. We just took that ride 3 weekends ago! We do have some nice driving roads here, but it seems every time we go out, suburbia is creeping further and further out.

Mrs. Demick. If I like the kidlet, it can maybe call me Janel.

Tony, can't right now. Baby shopping. For a 'liberal in training' onesie or maybe this if it's a girl...

I'm also digging about for that little kidlet MG shirt, 'my daddy drives an MG' or something like that. I can't remember where I saw it, Moss? Triple-C? I need that shirt right now. Have to wrap it up with the congrats card and box of saltines, jar of pickles and Cardinal sleeper!!

Yea, but I can't remember where I saw the shirt. I'm thinking Triple-C's store at MG2006.

I think BCF shirts would be a GREAT idea Basil!!! Great idea! On an 'order and pre-pay' basis!

Yea, I should have known something was up when she didn't taste any wine and they didn't buy a bottle. She's my drinking buddy.
