Factory painting sequence

Trying to figure how the bn1 and Bn2 big healeys were painted at the factory. I would think that the bodies were assembled when painted but how would the panel beaded spacers be left unpainted as well as the front panel piping. Seems the panels would have to be painted separately then assembled?

I'm sure others may actually know but the most logical way to paint a Healey is to loosley bolt the panels on without the beading in place and paint. The beading may then be installed and the panels bolts snugged. It makes little sense to take the time to fit the panels, then remove them and lay them out to paint and then reinstall them and risk scratching etc. Fit them once, paint in place, install trim.

I agree. I think the interior surfaces of the panels didn't receive paint originally. When I restored mine, they were fitted, removed so the parts that weren't accessible when assembled could be painted, then assembled.
