"Factory" or "Dealer" accessories?

When it comes to Mini's was there such a thing as factory or dealer installed accessories? If so, how can I find out what those were? Hopefully an interesting and response evoking post.... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I know that the factory would install certain things, and your Mini is certainly of the vintage where they would have done that. British cars were not known for their options lists, and so just about anything ordered that was outside of the norm would have been called an "accessory".

Any particular things in mind?

I'm not sure where you'd find a list of available accessories. However, when you apply for a Heritage Certificate, it will list any factory installed accessories.

Your car is about the same age as mine so I know a few options included the horizontal oil cooler. On the sedans, the RH gas tank was optional. I believe the heater was optional on some trim levels at this time. I believe you could also have the -S gauges/instruments installed in some of the sedans, I don't know about the vans.

I applied for a Heritage Certificate....was told the records for that group are lost!...:(( Any other means of attaining that?? My Traveller has the "DeLuxe" gauge cluster & heater. I am more curious than anything about what was availble then, in case I came across an interesting looking item. One thing I would like to add simply because I think they are cool is a set of traffikators. (sp?) I figured I could adapt them to the posts right behind the doors. Nice conversation piece...like I need a conversation piece driving a Mini!! LOL Always on the look out for something neat for my car....

The trafficators had become obsolete by the time that the Mini appeared. They were not that efficient, and will require some cutting and bodywork to install. They were not available to for Mini at all.

I know, but I still like them, for the novelty
