Factory Bugeye top

The Bugeye soft top and side curtains are really pretty snug -- I brought the car back on an open trailer from San Diego to Midway, Utah thorugh a couple snow storms, and the inside of the car seemed well protected. I've driven it with the top and side curtains up, and it's really quite well protected.

For me, a hard top would just be one more thing to store. Of course, Tunebug isn't a daily driver, so it will only be in the rain by accident.

See, this is the same argument I find myself in with both my healey and my new daily driver. The hardtop would be great in both weather situations and looks, but they're just another big item to store. Also, from what I understand, they're a little fragile off the car and usually take two people to install.

Hardtop storage? We've got hardtop storage...

That's the top for my 380SL on the cart.....the carts are usually available on ebay & come with the cover that protects the top...they fold up flat when not is use.

Tony, thanks for the pics Ms Triss is (was) the twin of the Midget on the left - I think that even says '76 on the window. Chartreuse too right? What it does clear up for me is the pinstriping question. I always assumed mine was aftermarket, partly because it had a couple of slightly odd patterns. Judging from yours however it seems like the dealer may have done it. Makes me wonder what "model" I have since I've always assumed I had the "special" as per the ad, https://tinyurl.com/2uap3w just without the wide stripes BUT with AM/FM and luggage rack, now I'm not so sure - any thoughts?

The
"specials" were nothing special...that ad was for the "special" that the distributor made up to try & sell them towards the end of the run...all of the decals/stripes, etc for the "specials" were put on the cars on this side of the ocean....don't know who put them on my car (I'm the 3rd owner - pulled it out of a chicken coop!)...&, yep, its a '76.

Garage is looking great Tony. Well done.
