Fabulous Sprite Photos,er, actually very nice ones

Re: Fabulous Sprite Photos,er, actually very nice

Brian, you and your team have done a wonderful job and someone will get a great Bugeye because of you all's efforts. Not only have you resurected a wonderful car you have taught the girls an wonderful lesson and skills that they can take through life with them. Job well done!

Brian, I would highly recommend you get in touch with David Wallens of Classic Motorsports magazine, this is a story that needs to be told.

Re: Fabulous Sprite Photos,er, actually very nice

Yes a mag story would be a great deal. Heck I bet you could even provide lots of pics for them to choose from.

Darn Hap, we should have thought of that. And a good day to you.

That Bugeye can have a spot in my garage any time. Again it is going to be very intresting to see how the auction turns out.

Re: Fabulous Sprite Photos,er, actually very nice

Morning to you well Jack.

Brian, I couldn't help myself /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif, I email David Wallens direct and told him of the story and your website and forwarded it to you as well.

Hap,

That was great, and why didn't anyone else think of that before? I guess we were all in awe of the great work. At least I know that I was/am.

Hap's idea is excellent.

And congrats to Brian and his kids for a great job!

Re: Fabulous Sprite Photos,er, actually very nice

Brain,

Your car is GREAT! I am a firm believer that while "concours status" is ok, the real excitement and pleasure of owning one of these is in doing a job oneself and within the budget that is realistic. I suppose if I had a ton of money I would probably own concours but then I wouln not be drinving it all that much, rather storing it in some garage most of the time so it won't get dirty.

Nope, for me the fun is in the restoration and pleasure of driving it with the top down and having everyday folk stop me and telling me about their experiences of owning an midget back in the good old days.

And even more importantly is the involvement of young people. Wow its so great to see that. You have given them a change to learn things about themselves and british cars that rarely young people and especially young ladies have an opportunity to learn.

I give you and your team an A +!! Keep up the good work.

Everytime I look at your progress pictures I say to myself, "Wow!"

Re:Sprite Photos, Luggage Rack & Speedo Jewell

I am so sorry, I completely overlooked the questions in your posts.

<Brian I need er want to know where the lugage rack came from? >

I was told that it was on there when the car left the Calif. dealer, the oldest photos I can come up with are early seventies, and it appears there. Maybe someone else has one with a history? It does sit on four tapered plinths that conform to the body fall-away, if that helps. Sure seems to be made for a Bugeye.

<Also note that youall made new jewels for both instruments, thanks to Bob Webb for both the idea and the materials. I think we need to know about this trick, a whole bunch of us>.

You can buy a length of blue or red dowel at a plastics shop, (here we have "Tap" Plastics) pop it in the drill, and, slowly, turn it being careful not to let it start melting. We used a file to rough it then sandpaper and Scotch Brite, finish with rubbing compound. I think if you look on the "gallery" page of our site the is a progression running down the left side. If you can't find the plastic let me know and I will hunt some down, I leave the woods for a day job in Reno once a week, I think I can find a piece there.
