Great shots! Thanks for posting! Lots of my friends are there (and I hope their cars survive so they can make it to NJMP with me in two weeks). There's a green MGB with hardtop and wire wheels. That's Butch O'Connor, a good friend who lives near me.......he just e-mailed us that he's having a great time up there. We'll be at the VRG Glen event in about 7 weeks. That 2000 GT was at Lime Rock last weekend and was at our VRG event in August. The owner is Bob Tkacik. I talked to him about the car for a while and he had an outstanding race with my friend Tom (MGB). Bob used to own SEVEN of those cars! Here's A Link I posted about the same car

Yup, Carroll Shelby's Toyota. Bob's brother used to live right in town here, I've done some work for him on a few oddball cars. And my old boss at the Toyota dealer was friends with Bob. Still seeing a GT in person is a treat.
Trevor, That's a Simca. Actually both the red cars I posted are Simcas.I had to go over and look at the faded red one, 'cause the group I was standing in when it pulled in were going nuts trying to identify it. If it's not a 2-stroke, it's wayyyyy overdue for a ring job. She was smokin' like crazy. Very cool car. That low slung coupe came down from the track with the race cars. I was drooling over that one. Schweeeet!

GREAT, Ben!

...drool cup now needs emptyin'...

I love that place. They put on a heck of a podium for DITD. Glad to see they are still around, I heard they might not be still here a while back.

*severe envy* We don't get anything as neat as this here in hinterland, I only get to admire people's photos from very far away... *sigh*

And I have seen that Abarth before, I'm pretty sure it's the same car I saw at a small Fiat meet 12 years ago in New York (when I lived closer to civilization) :ambivalence:

According to the official sources, the Watkins Glen Vintage Grand Prix Festival is the largest of it's kind in the U.S. The town is completely mobbed with classic cars. Literally thousands, both in the events, and just parked in town to watch the goings on. If any of you have thought about coming, I would highly recommend getting here at least once. It's an amazing day, and then there's the actual race up at the track.
Next year the featured marque is...........MG!!! I can only imagine the numbers of MGs that are going to be here.
I count myself blessed to live so close to such an amazing venue. For as much as I live in the middle of nowhere when it comes to commerce, and the economy of the area is horribly flat, I sure do get to see an astounding variety of cars in my home town.

Same economy here (although I bet you're better off) but no cars. I count myself blessed I can be a hero with a rubber bumper MG. They go nuts over the Javelin. If the local dentist was smart he'd by it from me. :greedy_dollars:
