TR4/4A extra long oil filter attachment stud

Working my way through putting gadgets back on the engine (tr4) and yet another mystery. In the photo you see the bottom left oil filter housing stud..The bolt has a shoulder protruding so something must go there or at least used to go there..but what? I've tried to research pictures but yet to find any with anything attached to that stud. The car is an early '63 so Is it maybe something left over from a tr3 setup that's no longer needs to be that long?

Can't see your picture very good but guessing that where banjo fitting for oil pressure line goes.

Marvin, if ya click on the little picture it does't open up to a bigger one? It's suppose to.. Anyway, I'm basically trying to sort out what lines etc goes where as I go because I didn't have much to go on to reference the way it was. So are you saying that long stud would just support the pressure gauge line cause there no hole anywhere there that would feed a line.

Looks like mine (64 TR4) has a banjo there...

... but I have not had that off so I cannot comment whether the stud shown in your photo is incorrect.

Geo, Is there a line coming off that? don't see one in your pic so could it be just a spacer? If it is, Don't know why it wouldn't just be a shorter stud but obviously a lot I didn't know I didn't know..

I found an earlier post by malbaby entered on 6-14 2015 that addresses my issue..sort of. According to the responses,that long stud is indeed for a banjo fitting to monitor oil pressure. I found the copper washers and the cap nut as described in the post but still confused as to how oil gets in there There's no obvious hole anywhere I can see either on the housing or the stud...Could someone please explain?

AHH..Think I just figured it out!! Took the housing back off and discovered a notch facing where that stud slides past..so oil is pushed through that notch into the banjo fitting and around that stud then into the line..that sound about right?

I think you've got it fingered out.

Just remember, that bigger copper sealing washer goes between the banjo and the oil filter housing and the smaller goes between the dome nut and the banjo.

Thank you for that tip..the washers seem to be the same od so I'm almost certain I would have missed the ever so slight difference in the id.
This car is/was a basket case I'm trying to resurrect and it seems almost every single piece so far has had some unique issue to address, bar none. I'm gaining on it but could not do it without the unselfish advice I get from you guys that have been there done that!
