External oil line

Thanks Bill. That really looks super in there.

What do you use on the rubber parts and wires to make them look so nice?
 
Regarding the oil consumption (at the risk of a dual post).

After, or maybe before adding the steel wool strainer;

I think that I'll add a clear in line filter just to see what is getting sucked through there.

If it fills with oil, I've found my problem.

If it doesn't and I don't use anymore oil, I hit a home run.

If it doesn't and I use oil, time for valve seals.

All it costs me a small piece of hose for now. Cheap diagnosis from the way I see it. Should have done this sooner and I would have seen what was filling my intake.

The oil line stays, I'll replace the washers and tighten as required.
Paul, I don't know the real mileage of my motor but it uses (burns) very little oil. I can go from service to service without a top up.
Other than the small leak from the external oil line, I don't have any other external leaks.

The wet spots on the paper in these photos is clean engine oil, NOT gasoline that drained out of my intake manifold when we took it off and it sat on the bench.

I just changed the oil and filter the week before I took it into change the carbs.

Oil does not belong in there and that's why I say that this is my consumption problem. That stuff dripped out for an hour after I took it off of the paper and the bench.
