Exploding gas cans

Just heard about this - take notice!

There are lawsuits being filed against manufacturers of portable red plastic gas cans. Tests have proven that the can may explode if gas is poured near an open flame. Flame can travel up the stream of gas, then ignite the fumes inside the can.

Alert!

(It is a danger, but good grief - I thought everyone knew this ...)

Blitz - once the largest mfg of plastic gas containers went out of business due to lawsuits brought by idiots.

There is no personal responsibility anymore. If I do something stupid, it's got to be someone else's fault for not warning me. I hate it...

Reading the warning on my coffee cup
"CAUTION: Very Hot"
NS!
When did common sense get replaced with stupid?

What is this irresponsible world coming to ??

I've read (and I don't recall the numbers) that the cost of a ladder is substantially set by the expense of legal funding for ladder-makers.

Someone needs to sue the parents for not teaching common sense to their beloved ones.

It seems to me that if they should be suing anyone, it should be the idiot that threw the gas on the fire.

"lost income, loss of earning capacity".

"Earning capacity" as what, a Hooter's girl or a stripper? With all the things listed and only suing for 75K I'm hoping she wasn't burned that bad.

"The parents of a Texas high school cheerleader have filed a lawsuit against the manufacturer of a gas storage can after she suffered third degree burns when a friend attempted to pour gasoline on a camp fire."

Gee, you mean your not supposed to do that!:stupid: PJ

D'OH!!! No wonder..... :highly_amused:

"or the use of a gas can closure that would prevent flammable gas fumes and liquid from escaping the can"

Which it seems would be bypassed or removed, when attempting to pour from the can.

I have sympathy for this burned girl, but the root cause is that someone was stupid, not that every possible
misuse of a product, gas not the can, can be prevented.

Nah - more likely the parents will sue the school district for not teaching their child that gasoline is dangerous.

Sorry Mike, clearly that's not the case. Look at the picture above, you can see a CLEAR trail from the can to the burning Monk... thus proving BEYOND ALL DOUBT that the can was directly the cause of the blaze.

Answer this question: would he has caught on fire if the can had never been there at all?.....

Quick, someone call a lawyer!

Would he have caught fire if the match had not been invented?? Or if he didn't have opposable thumbs to open the can?? Or if the can was actually a restroom?? Shoot, we can sue everyone and everything for anything we say, think, do, or witness since if it doesn't work out, must be someone with money's fault...:glee::greedy_dollars:

Correction: all the above events still could have happened and he NOT been burned had not the can appeared on the scene. :playful:

Surveillance
Ethanol
Safety nozzles
The murder of the incandescent light bulb :cryin:

All seem to have more than one thing in common...
