Does anyone know if the rad. plates were originally painted black from the factory or left unpainted? I've seen them both ways in restored cars. Mine is bare metal, a result of an overzealous detailing session last summer.

Hi Randy,

My understanding is the entire raditor was originally painted black. Seems to be some problems to get paint to stick to the brass and tin very well so you see polished radiator top tanks often.

Naw John, just about any old rattle can black paint will stick like glue.The tanks are polished for show and to improve cooling.---Keoke

I know this seller. I just bought a Lucas dizzy cap from him for 99 cents. Included the wires. I guess he had to make it up somewhere.

Sorry to break yer heart, but 99 cents it was. Shipping was extra, but fair, and he threw in a rotor for another $5. It's all in black, white and ebay. so I got the proof.
