Does anyone know if the rad. plates were originally painted black from the factory or left unpainted? I've seen them both ways in restored cars. Mine is bare metal, a result of an overzealous detailing session last summer.

Hi Randy,
My understanding is the entire raditor was originally painted black. Seems to be some problems to get paint to stick to the brass and tin very well so you see polished radiator top tanks often.
