Hello

Looking for advise on a good quality exhaust system for my BJ8.
Preferably a free flow system without going overboard on cost.
And who would carry them as well.
I am running Webber carbs with a mild cam, hence my reason for a free flow.

Thanks

Tony

I have a Stebroe side exhaust on my 64 BJ8......It sounds sooooooooo nice

Hi Tony,

Although I did like the look and sound of side exiting pipes, and the added road clearance was welcome, I also believe that some of my left ear hearing loss can be attributed to this configuration.

I have been very satisfied with the free flow ANSA exhaust in the original BJ8 configuration. Purchased during a Moss sale in 1987, it is well built (still in great condition) and provides a great sound.

Good luck,
Ray (64BJ8P1)

I was not aware that bell made an exhaust system for a healey

I purchased a Bell system for my BJ8. Very complete mounting kits come with it. PM me for source.

With Webers you can get an exhaust manifold that comes straight out of the head, there's probably no balance tube etc that is on the SU setup that forces the manifold to bend downwards very (to) quickly. This is well worth doing. Don't go for too big a bore it'll slow your exhaust gases down too much and so mess up the tuning. I found the full length exhaust (not with the sideways rear silencers) to work better than the side exhaust. My cam is non standard so I'm not sure how a more standard setup works with regard to the best length. On my exhaust I also ensured that the pipe diameter is more or less constant from the head to the end of the exhaust pipe.

I tried a PM message but not sure if it went through
