Exhaust routing for Tiger

I am converting a '63 Alpine to Ford V8 power (as in the Tiger). I read that the Tiger routed the dual exhausts through the frame tubes, but that this was a rust problem. Would you recommend that I go ahead and route the exhaust through the frame tubes, go to side pipes, or other possibilities?

Yes, they rot there, but there's a good tech hint on the subject. One takes a short section of 3" diameter conduit pipe, flatten it slightly, cut it diagonally like a french cut green bean, and weld it in place. In one step, you eliminate the water trap, strengthen the X-frame, and make enough room for 2-1/4" exhaust. I had mine professionally done, but this could be DIY if you konw how to weld.
