TR2/3/3A Exhaust question

Hello all. I am a new owner, well for about four months, of a 1960 TR3. So I bought it as half finished project and just spent the last few months getting it semi-sorted out. Yesterday, was beautiful and lucky me, I was in a spot to get her on the road for the first ride!


My question is about the exhaust. I have to replace the existing one. Has anyone had any experience with the Free-flow exhausts Moss sells? Or should I just get standard one?


I also picked up the new Macy hurricane fan. I'll let you know how that goes. Thanks

My experience -- I installed a Falcon stainless steel system from TRF in 1987. It has a lifetime guarantee. The exhaust note sounds good to me -- I know some alternate arrangements can have a note you may tire of (or find tiring).

The muffler (which still looked shiny new) on my system split at the seam after 25 years -- Falcon send me a prompt replacement.

I have a set of jet-coated headers on my TR-3B that flow into a cherry bomb muffler and exit though twin chrome outlets. I love the sound and the look.

I have a stock steel system and I think it is a little too quiet -it doesn't have the throat of a TR6. I have another long trip planned in a few months, and think I will not change it before that. Maybe not even after that.

Hello Kiowa,
I have the Falcon stainless steel header, silver ceramic coated inside and out, leading to a two into one collector. From there the single pipe goes through the X box in the frame, and separates from one back to two pipes. Each side has an inline "cherry bomb" muffler. They exit the rear using the stock aluminum tips, near the overriders. The whole works is stainless. The sound is good - not too raucous, but still deep and throaty. It's not for everyone but I like the different look. It was surprisingly costly.
BTW The backup light is far enough away that it doesn't get cooked by the exhaust gases.
