Exhaust Manifold Question

I was ready to start a re build on my 948 cc engine for my Bugeye and happened to come across a rebuilt 1275. The 1275 is missing the flywheel and the exhaust manifold. Will my 948 exhaust manifold work on the 1275? I see in the parts catalogs both engines use the same manifold gasket. I will be using the standard bugeye 948 exhaust pipe. I also will be using either my 1-1/4 S.U. carbs or a Weber. As for the flywheel, I'm almost sure the 948 flywheel won't match up on the 1275. Any answers? Thanks

948, 1075, and 1275 exhaust manifolds are interchangeable except that the 1275 uses a differnt pipe and connection. The 1275 likes a larger exhaust for back preassure reasons.
The 948 manifold is awful, a 1075 works better and hooks up to pipeing the same as the 948.

A 1275 exhaust manifold should not be hard to find eBay or here maybe, and the pipe etc. is available.

The H2 is the correct carb for a 1275.

Flywheel is the same on all these engines.

Even if the 948 manifold will work, why not upgrade to a better performing manifold that will enhance the performance of the 1275?

That was my point, use a 1275 engine, should use a 1275 exhaust system.

Will the 1275 manifold and the later 1275 exhaust pipe, muffler and hangers fit on the Bugeye?

Of course.

I have a couple of 1275 manifolds knocking around the parts bins that I am not using since I put the header on. I would like to keep one in case I ever need to go back to stock, but you are welcome to the other if you want it. Email me.

And I can lighten that 1275 flywheel if you like /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I wondered who lightened flywheels. Gesh, I should have known. No one around here.
