I am about to install my intake/new exhaust header and while I have the gasket, I wonder about the gasket.

Do you use any sealant on both sides of the gasket? I was wondering if I should wipe a thin amount of RTV red for high heat on both sides?

Thoughts?
 
No sealer on that. Just make sure the surfaces are clean.
 
Ok, Getting the idea here...
I am re-installing my race engine after changing to the Taylor Box I bought from Hap. I am in the process of getting a custom exhaust next and wanted to double check before I install the intake/exhause.

Also if you are ported and using a header, consider a competition gasket.
 
I had a leak due to a weber header on the car and couldn't get it to seal on the intakes. Finally I resorted to a little fuel resistant/ high heat sealer and it worked well. I agree with the others, it is best to not use it and it really shouldn't be necessary, but if you run into any problems with aftermarket mods it will help.
