Exhaust header installation

Tried to put on an exhaust header on my 1973 1275 today and can't seem to get it past the steering column. Is there a trick to installing it? Help!

Take the heater box out.

???. Do you have the carbs and intake off? I had to take mine off on my '72 and work it down between the column and the frame.

I guess we should ask what type of header. I can get a 3 into 1 in with no problem. The LCB one I have requires me to remove the heater to get it low enough to start the turn back.

Ahhh! yes I can see where that would be a problem now, never thought about an LCB before.

Must have been a LCB?

I'm not sure who made it. It was an old used one my brother found on Ebay. It is 3 into one with a 90 degree bend on the bottom.
