excited about my first "proper" car

My wife and I purchased a 1963 Austin Healey Sprite last fall and almost immediately put it away for the winter in my father-in-law's barn. That was a risky thing to do, seeing as he used to have a 1964 specimen back in the day in the same cream color. We did get it back this spring though

My own experience with cars is somewhat limited and, let's say, mostly muddied with severe disdain for anything with more than 2 wheels. I started out on bikes and only began driving as a necessity when I got into track riding and racing. I did use to have a 1969 Pontiac LeMans. It came into my possession from a friend, and I must admit, I got it into a fender bender. Still, I kind of enjoyed it, but it was such an incredible gas hog and it was automatic, and it just felt like a bigger slower version of the vans I was used to driving. Mostly it was a novelty that passed. I don't particularly miss it.

But we are now living in a house of our own in the NY capital region and have a little bit of room for projects beside my race bike(s). So we found this little guy:

Upon taking it out of the in-laws' barn, the car has been running well. This is the first car I didn't actually hate. In fact, I positively love this car! I do have some questions and concerns, but that's for another thread. Thanks for letting me join the party!

Welcome, Alexey -

You've found a wonderful car that will no doubt hook you once and for all on British cars! Careful you don't get carried away, like some of us.

Be sure to check in with the folks on the "Spridget" section - plenty of camaraderie and advice.

Hey, Russ. I'm "Russian". Moved to NYC from St Petersburg in 1993. I've lived on both coasts since then, but currently my wife and I are in the Albany, NY region. Oh, my wife's "American", but she likes Ladas -- another fun impractical car we don't need to get

Re: excited about my first "proper" car

Re: excited about my first "proper" car

Hi Doc,

"PIROHEES"!! Wow, I have`nt had some "HomeMade" ones in yrs.

My Mom used to make them stuffed with Potatoes, some with "Kapusta"; They were great!

When I lived in NJ; We used to get them homemade from the "Uki" church but even that has gone by the wayside.

I really do miss all that "Good Stuff"!

Say "Dobrie Dein" (Phoentically "Good Day") to the Mrs.

Regards, Russ

Cyrillic eludes me.

Re: excited about my first "proper" car

Welcome aboard Alexey! Neat car you have there!

Re: excited about my first "proper" car

Pretty much eludes me anymore, too. I was fluent 30 years ago when I was in the marines, but I've lost almost all of the vocabulary.
