Everyone send me $100 so I can....

It is an absolutely beautiful car, but I think it if was mine I would be scared to use it. It is so original and in such good shape that it is almost a bit of a liability!

I still want it, though!

New Up-Date!!!!!!

It sits at $36.1K - God!!

There`s 6 days & 11+hrs to go!!

This one will have to be an all time International Highest selling TR3 I have ever saw!!

Russ

I still think that it will be somewhere north of $50K.

Re: That TR3

I know very little about "3s", but I do note that some of the vehicle pictures posted on Ebay show the valve cover "reversed" with the oil spout toward the radiator, and others with it toward the firewall, like on the TR4s. What's the deal with that?

As a rule, 3's had the oil filler toward the radiator until the 3B's that were equipped with the 2138 (?) engine that came in the TR4's.

Re: That TR3

Another day & Another $$$ for the fortunate seller:

She`s up to $39.1K and 5 days 17hrs to go.

We`re approaching the Healey and E-Type price levels now. I love the TR3s as I had two `58s but if I were going to spend $50K; I surely would be looking at an E-Type regardless of how nice this TR is!!

Regards,

Russ

Re: That TR3

...I believe it to be original also...the seller is quite good at selling emotions also...but still it's fun.

forgot to add, Geo I agree, those look to be WW studs, if so and the seller is a wrench, then...what gives.

Look again; it's just that each picture shows one side of the engine.

Re: That TR3

Reminds me of a TR250 a guy out this way owns. An 8,000 mile "Barn Find" with original paint, interior, hoses etc. Absolute time-warp wonderfull car, there is really something very pure and inexplicable about a true original like this that even the nicest restoration cannot match. Makes me understand why the experts on "Antiques Roadshow" get so hot-and-bothered over "patina".

He claims the only thing he had to do was put new tires on it. He used to show up at the local car shows (and beat me hands-down in the Tr250/5 class!) Like this car though, I'd be kind of scared to drive it.

Be fun to see where this TR ends up.

Rob.

The photograpy of the car is so nice I'm using the pic of the car fom the side as my wallpaper on my PC at work. That car is just gorgeous.

Ebay Update:

Still at $39.1K, (Reserve is Met),and 3 days 6hrs to go:

Where do you think she`ll end up at?

I`m going to take another "BAD" guess & say $44.9K???????

Happy "Window Shopping".

Russ

"Strange"?????

Someone must have retracted a bid or two?

Ebay up-date: She now sits at $35K (Dropped $4K) / 18hrs to go / 21 bids & 10 bidders:

Who knows,

Russ

Hi Russ,

What appears to be going on is very interesting.

I see the seller had the integrity, and the guts, to cancel the bids from his (former) high bidder, who was zero rated. That type of managing of his sale will give lots of confidence to real buyers/bidders.

Nobody wants to bid against a zero rated or negative rated bidder. It is rather like bidding against the chandelier at a Kruse auction. (Don't ask me how I know!)

integrity or guts? If you've ever sold a car on Ebay, (0) feedback bidder's are your worst nightmare during the 10 day auction.
.

Hi Folks,

Personally I feel the "Zero Bidder" is perhaps friends etc of the seller. Note the seller has only 4 transactions on ebay.

When the "0" bidder got it up to $39.1K; One would think it would get to the $40K mark relatively quickly. There were many hrs. & perhaps a couple of days that the bid was stuck at $39.1K. "No More Action"!

Next thing we know; The "O" bidders are gone & price drops back to $35K who has a good feedback rating etc. "Serious Buyer"!!

By retracting the "0" bidders bid; It lets him (bidder) off the hook to potentially buy the car! The seller in turn finds that $39.1K just may be the highest or perhaps "TOO" high a bid for any serious bidders? "All Speculation"!

Just a guess as to above; "Who knows"? "Who cares"? Its just fun to see where its going to go from here?

You are exactly 100% right. I've sold a few nice cars and motorcycles on ebay, and it really takes monitoring to keep bad bidders away. What I do is cancel their bids. On a couple of occasions I've had to cancel bids AND block the bidder from bidding again.
