I've got a rat problem but don't wanna kill th' lil' bastage. I went looking around and stumbled across this article.

Best Part: they tell you how to keep th lil' bastages OUT OF YOUR CAR !!!!!

Anyway, I got go set up the trash car trap so I can relocate him. He (or she) seems kinda cool. When they usually run away, this one kinda hangs out with ya for a minute then moseys on off.
 
Around here, we mostly get roof rats (aka black rats) instead of the brown Norway variety. Last time one got in, it made a nest in a brand new carpet set that I had been saving for the 'new' TR3!

I'm not the least bit sorry I killed it; and no way am I going to release a live rat or pay a vet to kill it for me. We also get occasional outbreaks of bubonic plague (I heard just last week that a campground near me is closed for plague) so I don't want the little buggers anywhere near my house or family.

I can whole heartedly understand where an immediate death sentence is warranted. I hope you read it, it'll tell you how to keep it from happening again.
 
Plague and typhoid fever (salmonella typhimurium) in rats are only a few reasons to exterminate these pests. The amount of food these animals spoil and eat would feed millions of people each year. PETA has forgotten world history and there solution is to release these animals out in the country where we grow our food. An immediate humane death sentence is in order to protect our heath. Keeping these pests from your car is great, but does nothing to protect you!

I'm not a member of 'em, just stumbled across the site. I live in the country, whole lot more country than food growin' here. Speakin' of growin' food, hawk gotta eat too. Mebbe if'fun the hawk had him somethin' to eat, he wouldn't have to come after my little doogie....and that always ends unpleasantly for all involved...
 
This is their plan. PETA, HSUS is trying to incrementally end our consumption of animal protein. They care very little about animal welfare ( just examine where the $$$ goes). I might be getting a little political here so I will end my rant here. I see the hypocrisy everyday .

I understand, all I'm talking about is finally there seems to be a way of keepin' 'em outta your car. On my planet, that's pretty big. I don't enjoy killin' furry little critters especially after I've had eye contact with them. I'm not sayin' join up, I'm sayin' keep 'em out your car.
 
My biggest problem here is tree-rats AKA Squirrles. I've trapped 2 outta my garage, and one out of my house. another one in my house would up with some extra ventilation holes fom a pellet gun, but that was only after I tried to trap him out. I take em about 10 miles away to some woods. It seemes the other issue I have is mice. This spring when I cleaned out my garage I pulled the coolant drain pan out from under the bench (Where no dogs or cats could get into it) and found 8 mice and one mole floating in the brine. I guess I need to put out some deterrant this winter.

Come to think of it, why is that? You've got the rainfall, and the long growing season ... is the soil really bad or something?

No, not really. La has better soil. There are family gardens and the neighbor grows watermelons for sale but that's it. You gotta clear land to grow here and there just isn't any money in it. Timer, yes; food crops, no.
