Ever go out of your way to help someone...

repeatedly. But that was when I was in grade school.

I'm much more evaluative now.

yup and sometimes you do it anyway - cause it's the right thing to do.

Yeah but that gets old and weak quick. Nowhere does it say to allow yourself to become a habitual doormat.

Repeat after me, Billy: "I am NOT a sacrificial animal."

Do that three times.

Then go read "Atlas Shrugged".

...you should have read THAT back in 8th grade, too.

Along with Kipling's poem "If".

Me too, or at least I thought I was. It's the ones you NEVER thought would or saw comming that get ya. I'll have to look into your suggested reading. I had the best education money could buy in grade school but never read those.

"If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster"... everytime I look at the TR.

Billy,

I was reminded of that philosophy today.
Found a seatbelt at the local wrecking yard
today,to replace the defective one on the '94
Dakota that I sold locally.
The guy was so gratefull that I replaced it.
This is what I promised to do,so why should it be
a "big deal"?
Keep doing the "right thing",as I'm sure you will.
Sometimes you get screwed, but you can still live with
yourself later.

Help someone who you know needs it without any expectation of any reward for yourself because that's not the point, is it?

Galt means Wrong in Danish, so read Atlas Shrugged and don't do what Galt says.

But really, I don't mind doing things for others... free, or even paying, but I EXPECT gratitude!

If I get paid for doing work on someones car and don't report it as B-income, the tax man can fine me a whole lot of money for cheating. I bypass that by doing the work free. Then if somebody wants to give me something I'll accept it.

Forkert! Every kid should read it - let them make up their own minds.

"No good deed goes unpunished"
I get punished a lot. Reward is much later.
Keep being "The better man". You'll be able to sleep at night with the clear conscience.

Seems to me that I am like the kid and the stove.

I keep putting my hand into the fire to see if
I'm gonna get burned again.

BUT, in the belief that I am paying it forward,
I continue to do what I believe is the right thing,
and ya know, sometimes, when I pass my hand over the
flame, IF I do it quick enough, I don't get burned.

Never look down on anyone
unless your helping them up.

Ben nailed it. I don't expect to get penalized...especially by another (Johnny come lately) "do gooder"

When I say, "Don't take this, it belongs to me, don't take anthing else here either unless I'm around so I can show what does and does not belong to me" ...and they take it anyway as soon as I leave.

..."In the name off..."

....and I'M THE BAD GUY ?!?!?!

These guys show up with a trailer in the middle of the day with no one around and start loading up. Good thing I just happened to be passing by. I stop and find out what's up, say don't take this, leave and...

...never again...

Well, went and talked to "the boss" today. Given the season I'd thought I'd envoke a Festivus activity and envoked "The Airing of Grievances". Some times folks don't understand the chain of command. We got everything sorted out.

Next Festivus rite to be practiced is "The Feasts of Strenth". The guy who brought in the clown posse has elected to take over my role in the situation. I couldn't be happier. I could use a break. We'll see how long that will that.

The boss now questions the motives of the ICP*. The clowns themselves aren't a bad lot at all. The ringmaster appears to have questionable motives.

The lesson to be leasrned here is, don't leave your stuff anywhere if you don't have direct total control over security.

Everything of mine is back here here again, the German sheppards have been feed, razor wire has been tightened and the BMG should be here next week.

Any you S.E Asian vacationers have any souvenirs left over?

* Insane Clown Posse, a "musical" group referance that has nothing to do with this story, just a play on words.

No Billy, for security, the dogs should NOT be fed.

Claymores. I know what yer lookin' fer. Fresh out of spares (not counting those erected on the perimeter).
