This Europa is at my friend, Colin's shop. They are considering what to do with it (another friend owns it). Might end up with a Duratec or the original twin-cam.

He was also able to collect 1.5 Lotus Elans at the same time. Actually, it's three "halves" (two fronts and one back, as I recall). I didn't take a picture of the pile of Elan halves.....maybe next time. Plans for the Elan bits are undetermined right now.

Got to ride in a Europa a couple years ago - what a rocket! shortest shifter I have ever seen in a car and this guy had his lowered!!! the whole car was 39 inches high - you just rolled in and rolled out - literally.

Funnily, last summer was at a cruise night and there was a gorgeous (stock) Europa owned by an older Korean couple. She, very petite, fit the car perfectly and is the only person I ever saw who could enter or exit one of those things gracefully.
 
I think my Cortina had an Europa shifter in it.
If I wrapped my hand around it the top of the knob was just above the top of my hand.
It was sweet .

Europas had a "remote" shifter. Still quick but not NEARLY as sharp as the Elan's.

IMO it'd be a shame to replace the T/C engine with a "modern" unit. There's PLENTY of wow factor in the 1600 mills. Ya just gotta build it right. :wink:

In the days of yore it would have been a gorgeous couple owned by a Europa. :jester:
 
Sorry Doc, but I don't think that Renault 'box is ever quick! You can get the change precise, if you fiddle with the linkage long enough, but the 'box - elle fait comme elle veut. Pas trop vite!

Reminds me of that country song about a "lover with a slow hand". Conway Twitty, wasn't it?

A few years ago I looked at a Black Europa John Player Special, which I came very close to buying. The car's owner (forgot his name) was a drummer for that world-renowned group, The 1910 Fruit gum Company (Simple Simon Says). That group had many iterations and members and I can't remember they guys name or whether he was in the original group or one of the later variants. Nice enough guy though.
