Europa Twin Cam Autocross Car

Howdy- Several months ago, I acquired a down-at-the-heels Europa autocross car- 2738R, ex-Steve Rogers. Anybody who knows the car and has some history on it would tickle me to death if they'd get in touch.

It was sans engine at the time I bought it- sacrificed for a Royale RP4. I'm in the process of building a steel-crank dry sump tall block with a John McCoy stage 3+ Weber conversion head. I imagine it'll get some track-day use, hill-climbing & autocrossing, but mostly I'm building it 'cause I've wanted a Lotus race car since Memorial Day, 1965, and doggone it, I'll have one or go broke in the attempt. I already went single over it. Hopefully, it won't make the e-Type jealous, too.

It's currently sporting a 352 transaxle. Anybody have any experience trying to hold one of these together at 160+ HP?

Anybody with a similar affliction who'd like to commiserate, berate, or advise, feel free to jump in.

Cheers,
Craig Bolton

A tall block with that crank should be FINE when wound together properly. Very neat! Photos of this thing would be well recieved here, too. BTW. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

I managed to get two photos of the car posted to the gallery. They're titled "Money Pit". There's a slew more coming. Right now it's semi-disassembled as I try desperately to keep it on the front burner. I'd hate to see it covered up with parts off, say, my 15 year MGA project.

Impressive, Craig! Keep yer eye on th' ball. BOTH my Elans are VOR with frame damage, the S-3 is piled high with 'stuff' from the MGB rebuild. If you need motivation I may post a photo of the unrecognisable pile o' kulch. It's disheartening.
