Europa Technical and Parts information

Hey Folks,

I'm looking to pick the brains of some Europa nuts. I'm working on a project that I can't mention at present. What I'm trying to find out is information relating Lotus part #s to OEM manufacturer part numbers. The Lotus books are, well, lacking in this regard.

Anyone interested in giving me a hand?

Jody

Have ya looked at the SanFran Lotus guys website, Jody?

I may have a few cross-over notes in my parts books, too.

Try here:

https://lotus-europa.com/

Jerry Johnson's terrific Europa site, with lots of tech info including a pdf of the manuals and parts catalogue, a parts "cross-reference" ap, and the "knowledgebase.

For specific questions, you can sign up to the Yahoo Europa web-ring. A very active group.

https://groups.yahoo.com/group/lotuseuropa/

So now - don't be coy, what is this project you cannot mention?

Cold fusion? Perpetual motion? Give us a hint.

Rob.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the info. I've already spent a number of hours poring over that web site (though, on rereview I found some information I didn't have before). I just wish I could find a better parts manual for the Renault engine. The one that's available is just a bugger to read, and trying to cross reference it to the S Parts Catalog list is, well, tiring to say the least.

I figure, in the Europa, that everything is really a Lotus Part# except the engine/trans, electrical and gauges. What I'm really trying to determine is the original OEM numbers to cross reference the Lotus numbers to.

The Europa fits very well with Colin Chapman's principle that Lotus should make nothing that could not be bought from mass manufacturers.
So apart from engine, transmission, electrical and gauges, Europa front uprights and brakes are Spitfire, rear hubs are Hillman Imp, dashboard vents are Cortina, door locks are Renault, and the list goes on and on.

Golden Gate Lotus Club have done a lot of what you're trying to do.

Roer,

Thanks for the information and the leads. I'll track them down. I knew the Eruopa was similar to something like my Jensen Healey where much of it was sourced from other suppliers.

Jody

Jody,

When you looked at Jerry's site, you did look here:

https://lotus-europa.com/partsxref.html

I would think all known cross reference Europa parts are cataloged here. That is the intent. You will have to click on the "more info" link on the right of each part number in the table to get the possible and often multiple cross references.
